The Regional Championship game is a place the East Robertson Boys’ High School Basketball Team has been before. Imagine the shot of the crowd: several East Robertson fans on their feet and shouting at the top of their lungs as the boys run out onto the court: "They're nervous, but on the surface, they look calm and ready.” Ready to do what they have been working so hard toward; Ready to grab the win and bring the game back home; Ready to be Region 5A champs.

A team like the 2019-2020 Boys' Varsity Basketball Team was not built overnight. The seniors know what it means to have a winning season. During their junior year last year, their season landed them in the same position. A chance to be region champs, but they had fallen short. Thursday, the team and not just the seniors, were ready to seize their victory. A victory that not only mean they are Region Champs, but a win that will help them continue down the road to ultimately reach their end goal: a chance to play in the State Tournament.

As the boys left school, the whole of ERHS lined the way as the school sent their warm goodbyes and support to their team. The boys were quiet and reserved as they smiled back and waved, knowing that this game was not only for them but for their hometown and school as well. A hometown rich with rich history in basketball success. It is hard to say what goes through a player’s mind as they sit thinking about the game ahead.

Fans were already filling the stands as the boys entered. Every East fan was nervous but confident knowing that these boys had worked hard and made it to the game due not just because of sheer luck but because of all their hard work. As the game started, every fan’s heartbeat quickened, and every breath was used to scream and cheer the boys on. It is no surprise that they were victorious on Thursday night. A team like this can move mountains. While East may just be a small-town team, they have big hearts and big talent. They have what it takes to make it all the way to state.
